Back in the 1990s in Colombia, dancer Alberto Perez was teaching an exercise class and he did not remember his regular music. He reached into his backpack and picked up tapes of salsa and merengue. The music is hence plays an important role in the history of Zumba.

The history of zumba began not long ago. In 2001, he acquired touching two other Albertos - Alberto Perlman and Alberto Aghion. All these people plays a significant role in the history of Zumba. Together, they called the new style "Zumba", a word that doesn't have any specific meaning but is now associated with this great blend of fitness and fun.

From then, the history of zumba continued as he established himself as an excellent trainer and choreographer in Colombia. He wants to make Zumba successful and tries to integrate Zumba with exercises.

After becoming a relative popular exercise instructor, many investors approached Perez to market his unique exercises, another milestone in the history of Zumba. In 2001 they developed the first Zumba DVD which was very well received and sold more than 10 millions copies. Thanks to the history of Zumba, we now have many Zumba instructors around us.
